Welcome to Heartbeat. These terms govern your use of the service. By creating an account, you agree to them.
1. The service
Heartbeat is a tool for remembering the people in your life and the moments worth celebrating. It is currently in alpha. Features may change, break, or disappear with limited notice while we figure out what works.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Heartbeat.
- You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens under your account.
- One person, one account. Don't share credentials.
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile page.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Heartbeat to harass, stalk, or impersonate anyone
- Add information about people who have asked you not to
- Use Heartbeat to send unsolicited bulk messages
- Attempt to access another user's account or data
- Probe, scan, or test the security of the service in ways not covered by a responsible disclosure program
- Reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or attempt to extract data from the service through automated means
- Use the service to violate any law
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, usually with notice but sometimes immediately if the violation is severe or ongoing.
4. Data about other people
Heartbeat lets you store information about other people. You are responsible for ensuring you have an appropriate reason to do so, and for responding to requests from those people if they ask to be removed.
We provide tools — direct deletion, account export, account deletion — that let you act on those requests quickly. See our Privacy Policy for details.
5. Your content
You own the content you add to Heartbeat (names, notes, seeds, photos). You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display it back to you — and to the people you've chosen to share with — solely for the purpose of operating the service.
6. Service availability
Heartbeat is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We work hard to keep the service running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, freedom from bugs, or that the service will meet your specific needs.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Heartbeat and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
If a court finds us liable despite the above, our total liability will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months or (b) USD $50.
8. Termination
You may stop using Heartbeat and delete your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend your account for violations of these terms or if we discontinue the service. On termination, the provisions in sections 5–7 survive.
9. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes we will email registered users at least 14 days before the change takes effect, and update the "last updated" date above. Continued use after the change means you accept the new terms.
